About Peter

Peter Connor is the Founder & CEO of AlternativelyLegal which he formed in 2015 to help corporate lawyers all over the world to innovate and transform the work that they do, and their capabilities to do this different work, to add more value for clients and to thrive in their careers.

He does that through a range of unique T-shaped Lawyer programs and workshops.

He has conducted over 50 of these workshops around the world for a range of brand name companies including Google, eBay, HSBC, ANT Financial/Alibaba, Porsche, Coca Cola, Bayer and ANZ Bank. He also helps these teams implement their transformation programs by consulting in a range of areas.

Peter was retained by Rajah Tann Asia to implement his T-shaped Lawyer Framework™ as the basis of the training and development program for over one thousand legal and other professionals working in the firm’s 10 regional offices throughout Asia.

In Australia, he was retained by KPMG to help them conceive, develop and deliver their Legal Operations and Transformation Services (LOTS) product and service offerings for in-house legal departments. 

Prior to starting AlternativelyLegal, he worked in a business role, as VP Tech Products, managing software development for the Hong Kong-based compliance firm The Red Flag Group. 

Peter has had a diverse global legal career for over 25 years. He has lived and worked in Silicon Valley California, Switzerland, England, Hong Kong and Sydney in the following roles:

  • European General Counsel and, later, Head of Global Compliance for Citrix Systems

  • APAC General Counsel, Head of Global Legal Shared Services, European General Counsel and Head of European Government Affairs for Sun Microsystems

  • Senior Associate at Baker McKenzie in Sydney and Hong Kong.  

Peter is the recipient of the Citrix Design Thinking Hero Award and the Sun Microsystems CEO Business Leadership Award for his innovative contributions to the business.
